Protecting birds and their habitats
Winter Sparrow Workshop
Strawberry Plains Audubon Center has employed the rich hunting and farming legacy of the Southeast to unite the management objectives of bird conservation with those of working lands. Combined with a growing constituency that uses native plants to convert home landscapes into stopovers and havens for birds and other wildlife, this has been a powerful model for successful conservation at both the large and small scale. Over the last decade, our conservation programming, ecological consulting, and propagation and dissemination of native plants has resulted in the restoration and protection of 40,000 acres of habitat for 29 Watchlist bird species, countless neotropical migrants, songbirds, ducks, and a diversity of other wildlife.
Join us in helping restore and impact the next 40,000 acres.
For over a decade, Strawberry Plains Audubon Center has provided the blueprint for Creating Bird-Friendly Communities through our Native Plant Nursery and expert consultation.
Best management practices on ranches, farms and forests are the key to survival for more than 150 species of threatened grassland and forest birds.
This program is designed for educators, conservation professionals, college students, outdoor enthusiasts, and everyone interested in learning more about our local ecosystems.
Through the restoration and stewardship of our landscape, Strawberry Plains has created and enhanced habitat to provide residence for 24 Watch List species on the 3,000+ acres of land under our management.
The meadows, forests, wetlands and ponds of Strawberry Plains provide diverse habitats for a growing list of species.
The mission of the Association is to increase the occurrence of burning on public and private lands to, restore ecological function, enhance wildlife and plant communities, and reduce hazardous forest or grassland fuel loads.
