Strawberry Plains Audubon Center is one of Mississippi's finest natural and historic treasures. With a love of nature and profound foresight, two sisters, Ruth Finley and Margaret Finley Shackelford, entrusted their home and property to The National Audubon Society. Ruth and Margaret's vision of protecting wildlife and their habitat from an encroaching and ever-growing urban area has directed our work for over a decade.
We continue their vision by restoring and conserving the 3,000 acres of hardwood forests, wetlands and native grasslands managed by Strawberry Plains. In the community, we work with landowners to develop habitat management plans that will help future generations enjoy the economic and social benefits that clean water and a natural environment provide. Strawberry Plains is committed to providing experiential and place-based education to students of all ages.
Our Mission: Through education and demonstration, Strawberry Plains Audubon Center inspires ecological stewardship and leads community action to conserve and manage our landscape for biodiversity and habitat for birds and other wildlife.

Strawberry Plains is open to the public Monday through Saturday (8am-4pm). Pets and smoking are not permitted on site. Tours of the Davis Home are available by appointment through Holly Springs Tourism, 662-252-2515.
Winter Hours: Strawberry Plains is currently open Monday-Friday, 8am - 4pm, including the Visitors Center and Campus. Trails are CLOSED to the public until March 1st.
For over a decade, Strawberry Plains Audubon Center has provided the blueprint for Creating Bird-Friendly Communities through our Native Plant Nursery and expert consultation.
Best management practices on ranches, farms and forests are the key to survival for more than 150 species of threatened grassland and forest birds.
This program is designed for educators, conservation professionals, college students, outdoor enthusiasts, and everyone interested in learning more about our local ecosystems.
Strawberry Plains Audubon Center has a spring and fall native plant sale, and plants are for sale by appointment throughout the rest of the year.
