Have you always been fascinated by birds but thought there were too many to try and learn? Or maybe you've always wanted to attend a bird program, but were intimidated by the 'life-listers' and established 'birders'? Well we're here to tell you birding is for everyone and it's never too late to begin your journey. Join us for a workshop designed for beginners and first-time birders!
There will be an indoor presentation where we will highlight: basic binocular/scope use and setup; classification and characteristics of bird groups; general anatomical parts of birds; visual and aural cues for common backyard birds. Then we'll follow with a hike through our various habitats, assisting with attendees on their ID skills and 'birder awareness' including where to look for birds and as well as tips for locating birds through binoculars in the canopy, brush and tough to spot scenarios.
Bring your binoculars, though we will have plenty of loaner pairs available.
Cost: $10 per person; $25 per family
